Neurological sleep medicine research group

Our research relates to basic questions of sleep physiology and selected aspects of clinical neurological sleep medicine. More specifically, we are focussing on the neuronal organisation of the motor system in NonREM and REM sleep in both health and disease. To this end we are using a broad range of established neurophysiological methods including stimulation techniques (e.g. transcranial magnetic stimulation, F-waves) as well as signal analysis (e.g. coherence, directed transfer function). Our interest in clinically related research encompasses the various Non-REM and REM parasomnias, disturbed sleep in neurological movement disorders, narcolepsy and sleep-related epilepsies.
